Financial Policy
At Canobie Lake Vet, we will do our best to ensure the highest quality care for your pet while making sure we stay within your financial budget. We try to provide optimal care through our state-of-the-art laboratory, radiological and surgical equipment, and the use of the highest quality veterinary medical supplies on the market. Our personable staff is passionate about what they do, and you can be assured that your pet will receive only the finest care.
Surgical and non-routine care policies:
With surgical, emergency, and non-routine medical treatments, costs can become a concern for pet owners. We at Canobie Lake Vet will do our best to provide you with estimates that can help you anticipate costs for these procedures. However, note that an estimate is not a “set-in-stone” price, and expenses could be more or less than estimated. Surgeries and dental procedures can be costly to pet owners, especially when unplanned. Because of this, our policy is to collect 50% of the estimated cost of the procedure when you drop your pet off at the hospital. The remainder is to be paid at time of pick up.
Routine care policy:
Routine procedures including annual and recheck exams, vaccinations, routine laboratory tests, x-rays, prescriptions, food, and pet supplies must all be paid in full at the time these services are rendered.
Emergency care policy:
We understand that unplanned medical emergencies such as accidents or sudden illnesses do occur and may be difficult to pay for at the time of service. In these situations with longstanding clients, or on a case-by-case basis with newer clients, we may be willing to extend credit or offer payment plans. In these circumstances, a credit agreement must be signed by both parties. This payment plan will only be through Canobie Lake Vet and will not include services through referrals, specialists, or other hospitals. At least 50% of the cost must be paid at the time of service, and the remaining balance must be paid within 2 months. Until this balance has been paid in full, any new services or purchases from Canobie Lake Vet must be paid for at the time services are rendered. If payment is not received by the 2 month payment deadline, further financial charges will apply.
**Due to recent unfortunate circumstances, only payments of cash and credit cards will be accepted from new clients at this time. We can only accept checks from longstanding clients. We are sorry for any inconvenience.**
Held Check Policy:
In cases where checks are accepted, the held check policy may be applicable in some circumstances. If Canobie Lake Vet accepts a check that is to be held, it must be dated the same day that services were rendered. The held check will then be deposited no later than 3 days after the date of service. If a held check is returned from the bank due to insufficient funds, there will be a $25 service charge applied. You will be notified, and the original check amount including the service charge must be paid in full immediately by cash or credit card only. A late-fee penalty of $5 will be added if not paid within 10 days of the returned check, and an additional 1.5% interest charge will apply to balance. The 1.5% interest charge will be added monthly on top of unpaid balance. Any longstanding balances that are left unpaid will be sent to collections.
